he doesnt need to have the cooler installed, since he is checking wich komponent is failing. You can see that when he fixed the problem, he put the cooler back on

ye when u check for broken parts its easier without cooler in case u need to put in another cpu or get rid of a faulty mobo

@@gurglejug627 updating bios leaves password and bios setting intact. Reason they say to reset factory defaults after each update. But password is non volatile and does not reset. But you can flash a clean bios overtop but you’ll get this serial info unless you edit it. Or find and edit the password blank in your original dump.

What I mean is that HP Used to supply .bin files for overwriting lost passwords, and there are stories about pressing and holding down Win+v, Win+B, or just the B key when switching on to force a boot from a USB drive with that .bin file on it. I'm not sure if this is little known or if it has been removed as a feature totally by HP. As they don't supply those .bin files anyway, I assume one could write one, well, better modify one - I'm assuming they are simply a new BIOS flash with some extra code to get rid of the p/w but I could be totally wrong there. As I understand it I will have to remove the chip and change the data or replace it - I don't have the equipment to read/burn a chip but hopefully can manage to solder in a new ready made chip with BIOS ready installed and tested and no p/w: They're easy enough to get on eBay but without the right kit it's a bit daunting doing that soldering right. So you reckon no .bin or force boot key is available? What I'm trying to do is put Linux onto what was a corporate computer, and wondered if a forced boot key would actually allow it to boot a Linux installation boot USB. Also wondered if I put a Linux distro on a HDD using another computer then put it in my Elitebook 840-G6 if it would boot it, because it's normally expecting Windows:- That way I could leave the BIOS alone. @ yes Iv received a smc.bin in the past from HP. It’s correct they no longer offer them, I assume we can’t just make one as we don’t have the encryption key they use to sign the file. So we have to edit out our pass. For Lenovo there is a uefi bypass that injects a loader almost like smc.bin but we still need to flash externally to bypass signing.

@ for the absolute compute lock, it will auto apply your motherboard win key and lock you out via MDM as soon as you complete setup. I found if you install windows from another pc. Activate it then bring the drive back to the mdm pc it will stay activated and not trigger the MDM. Otherwise absolute edits your windows boot partition and breaks booting every single time you reboot. Some also will break your Linux installs as well.

@@CoolshrimpModz Thanks again for all the detailed info. So, a new BIOS chip it is then... well, it's all learning and practice - for me. Not much to lose and might even be worth spending the money on a chip reader/blower just to learn about them. Best wishes for now.

Yes you can try a clip or probe it does work on many, but note some won’t allow for ISP (in system programming).

ch341 can only flash 3.3vdc chips it cannot flash below that voltage, so make sure that your chip is 3.3v supply by testing the voltage accross gnd and vcc.

Just to look at label on front of chip and buy new one one aliexpress or in local soldering store. Label should be like W25Q128...

Reflashing a stock bios to the gpu will likely fix it.

This happen in my new pc build, after doing some research I started download my motherboards previous BIOS and so far it seem to be testing fine. I’m currently half way thru the test but came here because there was no solutions being addressed in any other videos

@@1ibeenyea, same with me. It wont let me download games because it keeps telling me their is a memory error. MemTest86 had like 10000 errors. Does this mean the RAM is bad?

No the password is not stored in plain text it is encrypted, we are simply erasing/replacing it.

@@CoolshrimpModz do you think the password could be decrypted? I imagine they used some salt. The docs for up say the password is aes encrypted, and that’s a symmetrical algorithm. I have 400 devices that are locked at bios so it’s worth decrypting the password once rather than for every single one

@@antokh there may be some tool but I haven’t used one, but I’m sure someone’s made something. if anything a rainbow tables tool basically they lock bios with a list of words then read the encrypted version then you compare your encrypted password with the list and you’ll know the starting password.
